A : Absolutely! All pole buildings are fully customizable. Q: What are the different available building sizes?
A: Your building can be custom designed and built to meet your exact specifications. However, choosing the more standard dimensions will result in the most cost effective design, thus saving you money and getting you the best possible price for your pole building.
Below are the standard size dimensions in Length , Width and Height.
Standard size dimensions:
Standard Length Dimensions : 24′ 30′ 32′ 36′ 40′ 48′ 56′ 60′ 64′ 72′ 80′ 96′ 100′ etc…

Standard Height Dimensions : 8′ 10′ 12′ 14′ etc…
Simply call us with any questions regarding dimensions and exceeding the above examples.
Q : What size and type of doors will fit with different sized buildings?
A : For overhead ( garage style ) doors you need at least 12″ between the top of the door and the bottom of the trusses. For Sliders ( doors slide open to one side ) and Split Sliders ( split in the middle , 2 doors slide opposite directions ) the width cannot exceed roughly half of the width of the side of the building they are installed on. They need to be able to slide open without extending past the end of the building. On the gables ( sides where the roof makes an ‘A’ shape ) you can go slightly higher.
Sliders are typically less expensive than the same size overhead door. Split sliders are also less expensive however they are a slight upgrade from regular sliders. Overhead doors can be further upgraded with dutch corners , carriage style doors with arches etc… creating a very nice finished appearance. Simply call or email for more details regarding the various upgrades available for overhead doors.
Q : What size and type of posts are used for pole buildings?
A : Depending on the size of your pole building either 4×6 or 6×6 treated posts are used for the posts. 3ply 2×6 Glue Laminated Posts are available also as an upgraded option and are used on buildings with a 14′ height or more.
Cheap Pole Barn also offers ‘SmartPost’ as another upgraded option giving you peace of mind regarding post rot, post decay, termites, etc…. As with any aspect feel free to call with any additional questions about or for more details on ‘SmartPosts’.
Q : Do I need a building permit to build a pole building?
A : Every township or municipality is different and has different requirements but the majority of the time a building permit is required. You will need to apply for any necessary building permits. The township will inform you of any unique specifications you need to make sure that the plans are compliant with your local building codes. The typical process is as follows :
When you send your signed quote indicating your acceptance of the proposal we mail you the drawings necessary to obtain your building permit(s). Engineer stamped drawings are available if required , there is a reasonable fee for engineer stamped drawings.
For efficiency purposes it is best to learn your local code requirements and relay to us any unique specifications. Most of the time the basic plans we provide are sufficient , on occasion there are various details that need to be included such as snow load , hurricane straps etc… Pricing for engineer stamped drawings vary slightly , however we are extremely budget conscious with every aspect of our pricing related to our clients individual needs.
If you do not fully understand the terminology of specific requirements , simply relay the information ( as thoroughly and accurately as possible ) to us and we’ll be happy to help.
Q: What site preparation is required to ensure the most efficient and cost effective process possible?
A : The site should be level with compacted dirt and clearly staked out corners indicating your exact desired location. In most cases we can provide very light excavation if necessary but it is important to relay the need for excavation prior to receiving your quote.
It is best to wait until after the building is erected to spread stone and pour concrete unless the posts will be secured to the concrete pad. ( Please be sure to inform us if there is an existing concrete pad where you plan to build as additional considerations apply.
There should be a 4′ – 6′ level clearing / work area around the entire perimeter
After the building is complete additional site leveling & grading may be necessary to ensure that ground water drains away from the building.
Q : Can the interior of the building be finished?
A : Basic pole building packages come with an unfinished interior, with all the structural framing exposed. However there is almost no limit to ways you can insulate and finish the inside of your building.
We provide interior lofts , stairs etc… and any kind of interior finish you need to make your building exactly the way you want it. Interior finishes can be included when the building is erected or at any later date
Partitioning walls are commonly used to separate shop and office space , divide office facilities or partitioned storage facilities.
Equestrian buildings often include finished horse stalls as well as tack & feed rooms. Please contact us for more details as numerous options are available for customized horse barns , riding arenas etc…
Q : What type of flooring can be used for pole buildings?
A : The most common is concrete and we can provide any type of floors hardwood or otherwise as additional options.
The basic 4″ concrete pad is common for supporting the weight of regular vehicles , for larger tractors , farm equipment , heavy machinery or heavy pallet stacking thicker concrete pads are required.
Dirt or Gravel can be sufficient for certain purposes.
Q : What type of warranty is provided?
A : Cheap Pole Barn offers a standard 10 year workmanship warranty.
Standard manufacturer warranties are also available. Extended warranties can also be purchased ( call for details ).
Q : What is the typical construction procedure?
A : Once you have taken care of the site preparation and obtained the building permits , the building materials delivered your site.
We will then contact you for the permit number and the phone number for your local inspection office to set up any required inspections.
Following that step our building crews
begin building your structure.
Typical building time for standard size garages is 2-5 days Larger Commercial structures and Equestrian / Ag buildings can be slightly longer.
